| Today, I was teaching my sunday school students about Imam Ahmed.
I mentioned a few stories about him and I absolutly loved them so I decided I'd share them with yall:
After being whipped for not agreeing with the false belief imposed upon everyone (The Quraan was created so therefore is has flaws, the Muatazilas believed this) by the Abbasi Caliph Mamun, one of Imam Ahmed's students told him, "Verily, you have reached the station of the Prophets" (meaning that he had been tested like the Prophets). Imam Ahmed replied, "Quiet, for in that court, I saw nothing but scholars selling thier deen, chahging because of the the Caliph. What am I going to say to Allah when I meet him. I looked at the sword and the whip and chose them instead of having the wrong answer to Allah on the Day of Judgement. When I die, I will say to Allah that I was told to say that one of your characteristics was created (i.e. the Quraan), but I didn't say it. After that it we be up to Allah, if he wishes he can punish me or forgive me."
Other stories about him:
Another one of Imam Ahmed's students asked him about the lashings. "Did you feel the pain?", inquired one of his students. Imam Ahmed said, "Only up to 20 lashes, after that my back went numb." It was reported that the next day, Imam Ahmed prayed standing. This made on of his studnets (Hasan ibn Arafat) cry. Imam Ahmed asked him, "Why are you crying? I still have my Eman!"
One time a man named Abdur-Razzaq was praying behind Imam Ahmed and Imam Ahmed made a mistake. When they asked him, he refused to say, and they later found out that he didn't eat for 3 days.
When the Caliph was asking Imam Malik what made him soo different from the Caliph and his camp, Imam Malik said, "The deciding factor between us and you is the day of funerals." It is reported that a man said that he had to wait a week before visiting Imam Ahmed's grave because it was so crowded.
Muhammed Al Shareef in his lecture series "Under the Shade of the Scrolls" said in regard to Imam Ahmed, "Some people make thier goals the stars. They may live and die, but never reach the stars. But in the darkness of the night, because they looked to the stars, they were there to provide direction."
Another account about his death (from Wikipedia, confirmed by my notes):
When Imam Ahmed was on his deathbed, a man who partook in the beatings
inflicted on Imam Ahmad, came to Salih b. Ahmad, the son of the Imam,
and begged him to seek permission from his father to allow him to
enter, for he felt the guilt of his involvement in the suffering of the
Imam. When he was finally given permission, he entered upon the Imam
and wept, begging for his forgiveness. Imam Ahmad forgave him on the
condition that he would never repeat his actions. The man left the
Imam, and all those present, in tears.
Last but definatly not least:
One day Imam Ahmed's son asked him," When will we finally relax? (i.e. from all the torture and humiliation)" Imam Ahmed replied, "With our first steps into Jannah."+
Hope this was beneficial!

| I feel a regret coming on as I waste more and more time on it.
| | |
| Here’s the situation:
Right now we have 4 vehicles at my house. Van is my mom’s. Camry #1
is my dad’s. Crappy Accord is my brother’s. Camry #2 is just there
(supposedly mine).
Here’s whats gonna happen when my dad buys another car:
Van = Mom. Camry #2 = brothers. New car = Dad. Crappy Accord = scrap metal (or sold).
Now to get my license.

| When I applied to UH, I looked at all the majors. I took my time and then made my decision.
And it sure as hell wasn't medical. I'm sick of the desi standard.
We have hoards upon hoards of desi doctors, yet very few actually do something other that earning money. They waste their life away take up to 11 years in college, just so they have a nifty degree that let's them mess with people's bodies.
I'm not doing that. I chose education. education and psychology.
It shocked my mom like I have never seen her before. She was amazed that I didn't want to do medical. I replied that my older brother can be the doctor of the family. I am gonna go beyond that. I'm gonna be a teacher, not just to students, but to everyone that meets me.
As I was reading this book called "The End of Education", I slowly started to realize what Bro Raihan was talking about in his past few years of halaqas. If there is only 1 quote worth attributing to him, it is this, "The purpose of school used to be cultivating people into becoming a citizen that is beneficial to eveyone around him. Now the purpose is simply to ready people for the work force."
I am going to change that.
And for those of you that are sick of the Desi standard as much as I am, at TDC they are having a job fair with 7 jobs that Muslims don't normally choose.
Until later, Asalamualykum
